Put your Gaze upon the SOURCE

Numbers 21:9

Amplified Bible (AMP)

9And Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it on a pole, and if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of bronze [[a]attentively, expectantly, with a steady and absorbing gaze], he lived.

2 things jump out at us ….Faith & Judgment.

Jesus actually interpreted the bible for us once again….and He actually gave us the prototype of explaining the Old Testament ……..{ Look for the Shadow of Him and His appearance on earth…or the personification of Grace.

John 3:13-16

Amplified Bible (AMP)

13And yet no one has ever gone up to heaven, but there is One Who has come down from heaven--the Son of Man [Himself], [a]Who is (dwells, has His home) in heaven.

14And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross],

15In order that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him, and relies on Him] may [b]not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever!

16For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten ([c]unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

Jesus said that as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, "that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him and relies on Him] may not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever!" (John 3:14, 15). Obviously this implies that the look that caused the victim of a fiery serpent to be healed was something far more than a casual glance. A "look" would save, but what kind of a look? The Hebrew text here means "look attentively, expectantly, with a steady and absorbing gaze."

The children of Israel were bitten by deadly desert serpents. The serpents were real. The bites were painful and deadly. So God told Moses to point the people to the bronze serpent put on a pole — a picture of the cross. (John 3:14) Bronze signifies judgment. In other words, the serpent — their problem — was already judged at the cross.

This was also a shadow of Jesus hanging on the tree… and we need to look at Him attentively, expectantly, with a steady and absorbing gaze…

The whole exercise was based on Faith & Trust.

So with Faith and Trust in Who we have our Faith in… focus

Not at the problem but ………He who is the solution.

Not at the sickness but at …………..  the Healer

Not at the Havoc around all our circumstances…. but the one who gives us Peace.

Love You Guys,

From " The one Whom Jesus Loves"

Hope does not disappoint when I know God Loves me

Romans 5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

1THEREFORE, SINCE we are justified ([a]acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to [b]enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

2Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God's favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.

3Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.

4And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of [c]character (approved faith and [d]tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] [e]joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.

5Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.

In the Greek Hope is => Elpis => A joyful & confident expectation of good

The woman with the issue of blood …..She had a confident expectation of being healed.  “ If I touch His garment I shall be Healed”     She had faith in the action she was about to take….because she read in the Bible that the Messiah had healing power in His wings…{Malachi 4:2}

We have to not only hope but speak our hope…..Thinking it is good but speaking it turns it into an action.  That’s why we should not speak negatively about ourselves, our situation..etc.

Instead of blessing we end up cursing. The devil does not know what we think but he hears what we say. So Bless….. and speak aloud our confession of Hope ......This coming week is going to be productive and The lord my God is going to guide my path. I’m going to have a…. blessed week because He loves me..and only wants the best for me

Hebrews 10:21-23

New King James Version (NKJV)

21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 10:21-23

Amplified Bible (AMP)

21And since we have [such] a great and wonderful and noble Priest [Who rules] over the house of God,

22Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by [a]that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.

23So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the [b]hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.

If He is faithful ……then anything else other than  {knowing He is in complete control of our lives}

{He is operating out of love}…….we show that we don’t trust Him.

Love you guys dearly,

"The one whom Jesus Loves"

Complete in Christ

Colossians 2:6-10 (Amplified Bible)

6As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him.

7Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

8See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men's ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah).

9For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].

10And you [a]are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

6Just as we got saved…..we had very little to do with it besides desire and the faith that Jesus was going to do the rest. As a result of our faith in this miraculous transaction…..Jesus, by His sacrifice turned us into sons & daughters of God.

Now we should use this identical formula to regulate and conduct ourselves in union with conformity to Him.

7We live our lives 24/7, but sometimes we fail to include Him in every aspect of our lives.  He knows every hair on our heads, so invite Him into our lives on a molecular level.  This way He will have the freedom to work with us and through us.  So let us make deep immovable roots in Him……OVERFLOWING with Thanksgiving!!!!

8Please make sure no one influences us with deceptive philosophy. This type of philosophy usually leans on man’s traditions & understanding.

9-10For all the fullness of the Deity lives in us and we have the fullness of Christ or being Complete in Christ. He is head over every Power & Authority.

Sometimes we see ourselves as incomplete….we look at our short-comings / imperfections, we see our weaknesses, we condemn ourselves and feel inferior.  God sees us as Complete in Christ.  In spite or our flaws He sees us as New Creations, partakers of His divine nature & more than conquerors. God wants us to see ourselves the way He see us.

Sometimes  we think we are lacking in everything from our Godly character traits, or our physical health.  We actually already have these in Christ, remember we are “Complete in Christ”.

I once prayed ….

·      For patience,…….. now I pray and thank God for allowing His patience to flow in and through me.

·      For discipline to stop smoking,……now I pray and thank God for His discipline to flow in and through me.

·      For wisdom…… now I pray and thank God for His Wisdom to flow in and through me

·      For restful sleep……now I pray and thank Him for His Peace and Rest to encompass me everyday.

Now I am resting in Him totally ….. and I am Whole because I stand “Complete in Christ”

Love you guys dearly,

   What is Worship?

Sandy  => Honor God …. Julia=> Coming together in community

 Anne => To Praise Him

  Worship under LAW

Exodus 3:12 (New International Version, ©2011)

12 And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[a] will worship God on this mountain.”

Worship under law had to be under strict Form & Structure with a strong focus on “the External.”  It had to be done in a particular place, time and surrounded by Rituals / Routines.  It would have to be initiated by Priests/ High Priests with specific garments and specifications to the garments etc.

  Worship under GRACE

John 4:20-24 (New International Version, ©2011)

20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”    21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Worship under Grace must be in Spirit and in truth with a strong focus on “the Internal.” We are now the place of worship {a mobile temple} God is a Spiritual being and we can only gain access to Him by Faith through the Spirit grounded in love.

Why should we worship? Does God need our Worship / Love?

We were created to worship and Love him in Spirit and in Truth.  Let’s analyze the reasons we tell people we Love them:-

1.      To get something from them.

2.      It makes us feel good.

3.      To make someone feel good

4.      To express devotion

5.      Sometimes out of obligation.

Pure Love is not complete until we express it. God Loves us and wants the best for us. He wants love from us to make us complete. We were created by Love(God) , through love, for love. We should worship God not because He demands it but because we love Him we are moved to worship Him.

Our spirits were created to worship. It is absolutely necessary for our spirits to remain healthy, thus we should worship in spirit and in truth. So we worship to complete our Love for God through:-

1.      Praise

2.      Thanks

3.      2-way communication with Him

How do we Worship?

·         With our lips:- through prayer, singing etc.

      Hebrews 13:15 (Amplified Bible)

15Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.(A)

·         With our works:- through serving {for the advancement of the Kingdom}

Hebrews 13:16 (Amplified Bible)

16Do not forget or neglect to do kindness and good, to be generous and distribute and contribute to the needy [of the church [a]as embodiment and proof of fellowship], for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

·         Through our Availability:- Being available to God for complete service to Him. We have to be receptive to the Holy Spirit.

{Be His puppet let Him guide and Control you.}

Romans 12:1 (Amplified Bible)

1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

  Side note :

The 1st. time Worship was mentioned in the Old Testament was through a sacrificial act….

Genesis 22:5 (New International Version, ©2011)

5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

·         With our Giving:- Through tithing and talents etc.

Matthew 6:21 (Amplified Bible)

21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Side note:

The 1st time Worship is mentioned in the New Testament was through the presentation of gifts.

Matthew 2:11 (New International Version, ©2011)

11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Worship – quote by William Temple

“Feeding the mind with the truth of God”

“Opening the heart with the love of God”

“Devoting the will to the purpose of God”

Matthew 4:10 (Amplified Bible)

10Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve.

Mustard Seeds: Let’s set aside some time in our busy schedules to give Him uninterrupted quality time.  If we would turn the tv off to talk about important stuff to the people that matter to us.

Them how much more of us does the King of Kings deserve.  Start adding some alone time (with no distractions) …… let’s see if your worship and prayer life grows!!!

Love you guys dearly,

Why do we fear / or have fear?

Genesis 3:10 (Amplified Bible)

10He said, I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.

At this point fear set in because they were being separated from God. The root of fear is being cut off or separated from God.

The devil carefully placed a thought in Eve’s ear… [If you eat you will have the knowledge of good and evil] So both Adam & Eve had a fear of missing out on the knowledge of good and evil. We know how that turned out…

If our perception of God is He’s mad at us or waiting to punish us, then how can you have faith that everything will be ok?

  What’s the Antidote to fear?

1 John 4:18 (Amplified Bible)

18There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love [a]turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear [b]brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection].

There is no fear in love.

Perfect Love cast out all fear. As a result of love the following will be cast out:-

  • ·         Every fear
  • ·         Every lie
  • ·         Every Anxiety
  • ·         Every doubt
  • ·         Every worry
  • ·         Even the lie that God is against you somehow.

“Your mind is eclipsing what your heart should be feeling” Maria suggested.

We need to eliminate the “but” out of sentences referring to or characterizing God.

I know God will take care of us but the whatchamacallit has to get a thingamajig.

Get rid of that pesky conjunction…. But.

We need to have a good working knowledge of God’s Love

Romans 8:32 (Amplified Bible)

32He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?

Instead, we as Christians take our perception of love and transfer it to how God Loves us.

We have been programed by society, and lied to by the devil….that love is conditional.

So we love one another with conditions, I’ll love you more if you are good to me. If not then I might have to make you pay. The devil distorts the truth, so he turns love from a pure thing into a very manipulative emotion.

Well God is absolute !!! His Love is unconditional, unequivocal and it is pure and perfect.

Jesus died for us and God imputed Righteousness to us. This act allows us to have access to God through our High Priest.  So when we say whoa!!! I’ve sinned today God must hate me now…..we are wrong, God is Just and He loves us without conditions.

My charge to the mustard seeds:-

Have daily Revelations and daily Affirmations of Jesus and His perfect love towards us, around us and through us. We must also know He made us perfect.

Let’s say Maria made a table in a closed room. We cannot see it, but she comes out and said its level and looks great etc.  Some of us may not take her word for it and even doubt her table making ability.

Now if God on the other hand built a table.  What would be our initial reaction?  We would know automatically that this table was going to be perfect.  I need you to know He made us perfect. He not only made us He died for us, which is one way He demonstrated His perfect love for us. The knowledge of His perfect Love will drive out every fear and anxiety in our lives.

  Love you guys dearly,

An "Heir of God"

Hebrews 13:5 (New International Version, ©2011)

5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

   “Never will I leave you;
   never will I forsake you.”[a] Deut. 31:6

KNOW that God loves us….As a result of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, we have the opportunity to dwell in the constant presence of God.

When God says never He means never ever.!!!  Now we’ve established that God’s presence in our lives is a guaranteed constant.

We must Also KNOW we can’t evaluate His presence based on our circumstances

·         His own flesh & blood sold him into slavery

·         Potifer’s wife accused him of rape

Joseph did not equate his circumstances with the lack of God’s presence….Instead of having a ‘pity party’ he kept his hope in the Lord…and knew regardless of the circumstances God had never left him nor forsaken him

And the rest is history….. Please read the amplified version below carefully..note that the original Hebrew when translated… says “I will never never  leave you”

Hebrews 13:5 (Amplified Bible)

5Let your [a]character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] [b]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor [c]give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [d][I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor [e]let [you] down ([f]relax My hold on you)! [[g]Assuredly not!](A)

We are setting the foundation to have an intimate, fruitful and  flourishing relationship with God.

This foundation is soley based on LOVE, we want to love HIM with our heart, soul, body, mind, treasure and talent. {Matthew 22: 37-38}

So as we pursue God with every fiber in our beings.....we begin to grow in our relationship with our Heavenly Father

Week Three 1st. Discussion on The Shack!!

Tuesday, 8 March 2011 16:00 by Nigel

 Promptings for thoughts, questions, etc.

1. The different appearances of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were used to help Mack break his religious conditioning.

God appeared as a black woman, the Holy Spirit appeared as an Asian woman & Jesus as a Jewish carpenter…..there were many reasons for the different manifestations…Mack needed to stop limiting “God in totality” an measuring Him by his human exposure and limited knowledge.  J- God appears in all of us….. cause God lives in us.

2. You don’t get brownie points for doing something through obligation; only if you want to.

Our motive is imperative in our spiritual growth/ journey. Eg. We should not read our Bible because we ‘re trying to complete it before the end of the year, rather we should be turned on to delve in His word to learn more about Him so we can have a better relationship with Him.

3. Life takes a lot of time and a lot of relationship.

4. How free are we really? – family genetics, social influences, personal habits, advertising, propaganda & paradigms etc. Freedom is an incremental process that happens inside a relationship with Jesus Christ.

5. When all you can see is your pain, perhaps then you lose sight of God.

6. Pain has a way of clipping our wings, so we can’t fly. After awhile we forget we were ever created to fly.

Fly here was used interchangeably with LOVE…..So pain affects our ability to love and be loved by God. After a while we lose the ability or forget that He created us to Love and be loved by God. So then we move into a state of {point 5. Above} all we see is pain and we lose sight of LOVE or God.

7. When Jesus became a man he gave up his own ability to heal people and do miracles. His miracles were accomplished by Jesus’ (a man, a dependent limited human being) trust in the Father God. We are all designed to live like that, out of God’s life and power.

When Jesus came to earth His 1st. miracle happened only after He was filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived under the total control of the Holy Spirit working in and through Him. John 5:30 in the Amplified version states…..

30I am able to do nothing from Myself [independently, of My own accord--but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders]. Even as I hear, I judge [I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to Me, so I give a decision], and My judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult My own will [I have no desire to do what is pleasing to Myself, My own aim, My own purpose] but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me

8. God exists in three persons so we, his creation, can also live in love and relationship, just like God does. If God didn’t, we couldn’t. “God cannot act apart from love.”

God is the manifestation of Love… God is Love.

9. Relationships are never about power, and one way to avoid wanting power is to limit oneself – to serve.

Husbands’ love your wives as Christ loves the church…one way He loved the church was to serve us…so husbands serve your wives. Wives serve your husbands. Parents serve your children. Friends serve your friends. Then we can begin to forge true relationships.

10. Sin is its own punishment, devouring from the inside. It’s not God’s purpose to punish it; it’s God’s joy to cure it.

11. When people choose independence over relationship, we become a danger to each other.

Relationships should be spawned from Love, which is not selfish. So independence breeds selfishness which is contrary to Love. You know the rest……

12. If people learned to regard each other’s concerns as significant as their own, there would be no need for hierarchy. God does not relate inside a hierarchy; God wants us to trust him because he will never use or hurt us.

13. When Christians don’t trust God it’s because they don’t know they are loved by him. They think God is not good.

Knowledge is the key and spiritual knowledge could only be obtained from dwelling in His presence….read His word… talk to Him every chance you get. Then you will KNOW that He loves you and He will never forsake you. {Deu. 31:6}

14. Mack says: “I just can’t imagine any final outcome that would justify all this (pain, suffering etc).” Papa replies: “We’re not justifying it. We are redeeming it.”

We must thank God every chance we get for loving us so much …to send His son to pay the ultimate price to redeem us from sin and the effects/wages of sin. “Thank you Jesus…halleluiah”!!!!

2nd Seedling for Mustard Seeds on 2/25/2011

Tuesday, 8 March 2011 01:14 by Nigel

Romans 8:32 (Amplified Bible)
He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all,

will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?

Here we clearly see God's LOVE demonstrated once again......

....In trials we sometimes ask WHY me?  WHY this had to happen to me?   Does God Love me?  I don't feel it or see it.

This is when Knowledge of the truth must take precedence in our day to day lives...... He did not keep His Son from us but freely gave Him up to die

for us. Now with this knowledge do we think He will not continue to graciously give us all other things?

Lets just focus on that gift....The gift of Jesus giving His life for us. He was pierced in seven  places in His body for us.

  1. His head "crown of thorns"
  2. His left Hand
  3. His right Hand
  4. His left foot
  5. His right foot
  6. His side
  7. His Heart

I want to just ponder on two of the piercings - The piercing of His side and heart

Blood and water flowed out of Jesus’ side when it was pierced. (John 19:34) Medical science will tell you that His heart had ruptured.

Jesus literally died of a pierced/broken heart so that your heart can be filled with joy, knowing he payed the ultimate price by being the ultimate scrifice.

And just as Eve came forth from Adam’s side when Adam was sleeping, the bride of Christ, the church, you and I, came forth from Jesus’ pierced side.

So if He died to have you as His spotless bride, He lives today to care for you as His spotless bride.

"will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?"

Love you guys dearly,

- an Heir of God -
